ARM LIFT/UPPER ARM LIFT
Meditour Turkei
The arm lift is a surgery that is usually used for patients who lose weight quickly after bariatric surgery. The excess skin parts (skin flaps, fatty tissue) are surgically removed. Many people who complain about this situation try to hide their arms with long sleeves.
While it is possible to tighten the muscles with sports and exercise, it is not possible to correct this situation with sports when the skin elasticity loosens and sagging occurs.
Arm lift surgery is an operation that is applied to solve the problem of sagging of the upper arms.
Men and women with loose, excess fat and skin on the upper arms may benefit from Brachioplasty. This surgery may be appropriate for:
* Individuals who have experienced excessive weight loss, including bariatric surgery patients (e.g., tube stomach surgery).
* Elderly men and women with aging skin and loss of elasticity.
* Patients with larger or smaller hanging bags on the upper arms that do not improve with exercise and movement efforts.
Surgical techniques for an arm lift. Depending on the amount of sagging skin and desired appearance of the patient, different procedures are available;
Scarless arm lift (arm lift with liposuction method): This procedure option is suitable for people with good skin elasticity, so the skin will tighten by itself after excess fat is removed.
Mini arm lift surgery: All surgeries are performed from the armpit area, also known as “Invisible Arm Lift”. First, the arm is made thinner by liposuction and then the excess skin is pulled towards the armpit. Then the incision in the underarm area is closed. The scar remains completely under the armpit.
Standard Arm Lift: It is the complete removal of excess skin and fat from the arm due to excessive loss of skin elasticity. The incision scar extends from the armpit to just above the elbow. Since the surgery is performed from the inside of the arm, the scar is not visible when viewed from the front and back.
Extended Armlifting-surgery: There is an incision from the elbow to the upper arm along the armpit and along the lateral chest wall to the armpit where the skin is loose. The standard arm lift is extended from the armpit and continued along the lateral chest wall. It is the technique used for patients with excessive arm sagging.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
When will I see the results of arm lift surgery?
– You will notice that your arms are thinner immediately after arm lift surgery, but you will not see the full results because of bruising and swelling. From the 4th week, the swelling will be reduced by 80 percent and you will clearly see the serious change. The scars in the armpit and arm area start to fade from the 3rd month and become skin-colored and indistinct after about a year.
Is arm lift surgery painful?
– There is a local anesthetic applied towards the end of the surgery that minimizes your pain for 10 hours. With simple pain medications, you can get through this process very well after you are discharged from the hospital.
Are the results of an arm lift permanent?
– As long as there are no major weight changes to your body, your arms will remain firm and smooth for many years after this surgery.
How long does an arm lift take?
– Arm lifting takes approximately 1.5-3 hours depending on the tissue and excess skin. What is Brachioplasty?- It is the Latin name for an arm lift. It is the process of removing sagging skin and excess fat in the arm area.
Will the arm sag again if I gain or lose weight?
– This area will not be deformed if you lose or gain a few pounds, but there is a possibility of deformity in your arm area after serious weight changes.
