Revision bariatric surgery is the replacement of previous bariatric surgery with inadequate or unsuccessful results with other bariatric surgery methods.
What types of bariatric surgery can we revise:
Conversion of gastric band surgery to gastric bypass surgery is the most common type of revision. The previously applied gastric clamp is removed and gastric bypass surgery is performed. In 8 out of 10 cases, the removal of the clamp and conversion to a bypass is done within a single procedure. If the gastric band irritates the stomach, the gastric band is removed and gastric bypass surgery is performed 3 months later.
